AP Biology

10 stages

The eight units, from molecules to ecosystems

AP Biology is a college-level first-year biology course built around four big ideas — evolution, energetics, information, and systems interactions — and eight units that run from the chemistry of water to the flow of energy through an ecosystem. This journey walks the whole College Board CED: the shape of the exam and its science practices, then Chemistry of Life, Cell Structure, Cellular Energetics, Cell Communication, Heredity, Gene Expression, Natural Selection, and Ecology — closing with the data-analysis and free-response strategy (experimental design, graphing, chi-square) that the exam rewards above rote recall. Master these and you can reason like a biologist, not just memorize like a student.
