AP World History: Modern

10 stages

1200 to the present, nine units

AP World History: Modern is the College Board's survey of the world from roughly 1200 CE to the present, organized into nine units and six themes. This journey teaches the course the way the exam actually rewards: not memorized dates, but the ability to reason historically — to compare societies, trace causes and consequences, and read change against continuity. You'll walk each unit's essential story, from the states of the Global Tapestry and the trade webs that bound them, through the land and sea empires of the early modern world, the age of revolutions and industrialization, and the global conflicts, decolonization, and globalization of the modern era. The final stop is exam craft itself: how to build a thesis, contextualize, source documents, and write the DBQ and LEQ that decide the score.
